Following their visit in 2024, Professor Rona Maye G. Trinidad, Dean of the College of Medical Technology at Trinity University of Asia (TUA), and Professor Nathaniel Veron M. Casamina returned to National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) College of Medicine from July 1 to 12, 2025, leading a group of 10 outstanding undergraduate students for a 12-day academic exchange and learning program.

This year’s exchange featured in-depth academic engagement with three graduate institutes: the Institute of Clinical Medicine, the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences. The program also included a visit to the Post-Baccalaureate Medical Program, offering a comprehensive academic and practical experience.

The academic sessions were thoughtfully designed by Prof. Tzu-Hsien Liao and Associate Prof. Chi-Wei Lee from the Institute of Clinical Medicine; Assistant Prof. Po-Chang Shih and Assistant Prof. Chih-Jen Lai from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science; and Assistant Prof. Po-Kai Chuang and Assistant Prof. Jen-Hao Yang from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences. The Post-Baccalaureate Medical Program visit was led by Director Prof. Hsiu-Ling Chen, joined by Deputy Director Prof. Chiung-Yuan Ko, Associate Prof. Yu-Yu Kan, Assistant Prof. Sheng-Han Lee, Assistant Prof. Bo-Yo Liu, and Assistant Prof. Yen-Hua Chen.

The exchange program offered a rich curriculum that went beyond medical theory, including laboratory tours and hands-on activities to help students transform theoretical knowledge into practical skills and enhance their overall learning experience.

Prof. Casamina shared that students from the 2024 visit highly praised the teaching arrangements and learning experiences at NSYSU, and were particularly impressed by the professionalism of the faculty. As a result, this year’s program saw enthusiastic participation, with additional spots added to meet demand. He expressed sincere gratitude for NSYSU’s warm hospitality once again.

In addition, on July 10, Dean Rona Maye G. Trinidad met with NSYSU College of Medicine Dean Prof. Yen-Hsu Chen and Prof. Yu-Ling Hsueh, Director of the Institute of Precision Medicine, for a “breakfast meeting.” Over a classic Taiwanese breakfast, the three engaged in a meaningful discussion about future collaboration between the two institutions. All parties expressed strong interest in deepening the partnership and contributing jointly to the advancement of medical education and research.
